Title: Treo
650 won’t sync to any Outlook Folder
Date: 02/12/2005
Computer Effected: Standard
Dell Desktop, Win XP, Outlook 2003
Symptoms: Every
time the device was synced the error log would report that outlook
didn’t sync because the required folder wasn’t found.
It couldn’t find Personal FoldersContacts even though the
folder was there.
Also there was no Palm Syncronization item
in the Personal Folders. Although while I was working on it I didn’t
realize this.
Description - Steps Taken:
Upgraded the palm-Outlook conduits.
Moved the outlook data store (pst file) off
of the server on to the local machine.
Deleted and recreated the mail profile using
a different profile name. (there were detailed instructions for
this proceedure)
Solution:
Eventually I allowed Outlook to create a new default folder set
and the next sync worked properly. So I copied all of the data from
the original .pst file into the new default folder set. I noticed
that the new folder set did contain a Palm Syncronization item.
The sync continued to work while I added the old data.
Then I closed the original data folder and renamed it to outlook_original.pst.
I closed Outlook and moved the new data file (outlook.pst) to the
server location of the users outlook data and restarted outlook.
It asked for the new data file location and then after another restart
it worked normally. Tested sync and it worked.
I would like to see if I could have just dragged the "Palm
Syncronization" item from the Personal Folders list in the
new file to the old .pst file and then made that one the primary
folder would it work without all the copying.
